Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Does it make a difference if I send the original photo or send a copy by email?

A. It is always better to work with the original image so that we can scan it using our hi-res scanner. However, very good results can be obtained if we are provided with a good quality scan of 300 to 600 dpi per image/photo by email.

Q. I have a very small photo. How large can it be printed?

A. Normally, the bigger the photo to be scanned is better although it depends on a few factors. You can get a decent 11x14 print out from a 4x4 inch original so long as the original is in good shape and image is still quite sharp.

Q. I don't like the idea of sending my precious photo by mail and I don't have a scanner. Is there another option?

A. Yes. You should be able to obtain a good quality scan from a local photo copy store (Like Fedex-Kinko’s). Have them scan it at 300 or 600 dpi and copy it to a CD. If they can, have them email the image to us for you. Just make sure that you fill out the no obligation price quote form.

Q. What will I receive back when I place an order?

A. You will receive by email, a restored sample your original photo(s), for your approval. We will only send you the restored image when you have approved the sample. You will receive additional prints and/or enlargements if ordered. You can also receive a copy of your print(s) on CD if requested.

Q. My picture has mold, stains and some missing parts. Can you repair these?

A. Yes. To help us replace missing items and/or backgrounds, you must provide us with information.

Q. How long does it take to complete my order?

A. It really depends on the amount of damage your image has. A single image with moderate damage may be completed within 3 or 4 days. Prints ordered may take up to a week. Rush orders may be requested with additional surcharge.

Q. Can you work with slides and negatives?

A. Yes. We can scan your slides and negatives and make the same type of corrections that we would do for photographic prints.

Q. You copy photos and slides to CD. What is the advantage of this?

A. Any photographic material like prints, slides and negatives will eventually deteriorate in time. Digital copies saved to CD will not. You can easily duplicate a CD for safekeeping or to distribute photo collections to friends and family.

Q. Can I review the restoration results before shipment to me?

A. Yes. We will send a proof by email attachment for your review and approval.

Q. What is the difference between glossy and non-glossy photo paper?

A. Glossy is the most common finish for photographic prints. It has a shiny finish and tends to be more vibrant and have richer colors. Matte finish is often described as “flat” finish. Matte finish resists fingerprints and smudges.

Q. Do you keep all the digital files and for how long?

A. All digital scans of original photographs and the restored ones are kept in our computer systems for a period of 1 month from the time we complete your order. We suggest that you save multiple copies as back-ups incase you lose or damage your CD.

Q. Can all damaged photographs or documents be successfully restored?

A. Our digital restoration service can repair most damage, although there may be instances wherein the old photograph or document may be too blurred to restore. In this case, we will tell you ahead of time what we could do to make it a little better.
